Ipswich City Council agrees to MoU with West Moreton Health

IPSWICH City Council will seek to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with West Moreton Hospital and Health Service on a proposed agreement for the sale of four council properties located within the South Street precinct.

Any sale or settlement would take into account council vacating the buildings and relocating to the new CBD administration building due for completion by 2020.

City Management, Finance and Community Engagement Committee chairperson Acting Mayor Wayne Wendt said the purpose of the MoU was to allow the parties to work together and provide a framework for future discussions in good faith.

“Both parties wish to enter discussions on the potential sale by council of the Hayden Centre, Ipswich Global Information Centre, Humanities Building and Administration Building,” he said.

“These four properties fit with West Moreton Hospital and Health Service’s previously identified need for additional infrastructure from early 2020.

“There are also a range of matters required to be addressed before any sale by council can be finalised.”

Cr Wendt said the MoU represented a common sense approach by both parties to fully explore options before entering into any formal agreements or binding contracts.
