Ipswich public pools reopen for spring with extended hours

Extended summer hours will allow residents more time to cool off at Ipswich pools along with the reopening of the Rosewood Aquatic Facility after a winter hiatus.

The Rosewood Aquatic Facility will re-open to the public on Saturday 3 September and summer hours will return at the Georgie Conway Leichhardt Community Swim Centre, Bundamba Swim Centre, Goodna Aquatic Centre and Orion Lagoon from 17 September for the September school holidays.

Swim or play at one of council’s popular swim centres or zero depth water splash parks.

Council swim centres and parks provide a number of facilities that make a trip a full day outing. Pack a picnic or BBQ lunch with your towel and togs and enjoy a great family fun day.

Community Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said the city’s public swimming facilities cater to anyone from seasoned athletes to those just wanting to cool off and hang out with friends.

“The extended summer hours will kick in for the September school holidays to ensure the community has extended access to these much-loved facilities,” Cr Fechner said.

“Council swim centres also offer swimming lessons and classes such as the aqua aerobics or squad training sessions at Goodna Aquatic Centre, or the SEAL Water Safety and Swimming Lessons for babies and young children at the Leichhardt and Bundamba Swim Centres.

“Pack a picnic or barbecue lunch with your towel and togs and enjoy a great family fun day.

“Lifeguards will be on duty during busy times, but parents are reminded that children under 13 years must be actively supervised by an adult at all times.”

“We encourage visitors to continue to observe COVID-19 safe practices.”
