Virtual Reality Workshops
Ipswich City Council has partnered with Fiftysix Creations to deliver a series of free 2-hour enterprising workshops for students aged between 8-14 years. Students who attend will:
- Build a Fiftysix Virtual Reality Headset and get to take it home.
- Learn to start a business or social change movement.
- Pitch their creative ideas to a panel of judges that includes Fiftysix Creations founder, and 2017 Young Queenslander of the Year, Taj Pabari.
RSVP by January 4. The cost is free and classes are limited to 25 students.

WHEN: Tuesday, January 9. There are three 2-hour workshops, starting at 9am, 11.15am and 1.30pm.

Insectarium at Workshops Rail Museum
Explore the microscopic world of insects in a fantastic photographic exhibition of Queensland Museum specimens. Come face to face with colourful insects with hands on insect activities.
See images of the iconic Dodd insect collection – where art meets science; get up close to insects from the Queensland Museum collection; see live stick insects and sort their insect eggs from their frass (stick insect poo); create your own butterfly that flutters when you move; be an insect artist! Examine insects up close then draw and colour them; match the butterfly wings to create amazing butterfly pictures; see microscopic images of insects in 3D.

Viewing a photograph from the past, or holding an object of historical significance, can spark interest, emotion and dialogue. But, when a unique personal connection is established between an object and an individual, it has the power to stir poignant memories and promote a deeper understanding and knowledge of times gone by.
This is my heritage explores the profound connection that objects have to family, country and culture through the personal memories and experiences of 12 of Queensland’s Indigenous artists and educators..
