June 30: Give parkrun a try

parkrun

parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. All ages and abilities can go along and run the 5km course. Please register before your first run. Bring a printed copy of your barcode so you can get your time. You are also welcome to grab a coffee in a local cafe with the parkrunners afterwards.

Drive-In movies at Tivoli

Multicultural Festival at Robelle Domain

Join Springfield’s Vedanta community for a multicultural festival at Robelle Domain. The free event is being held to celebrate a new community centre (pictured) at Springfield Lakes. A full day of fun is planned including prayers, music, dance, children’s activities, food, market stalls and fireworks.

Battlefield Challenge Mud Run

The Battlefield Challenge is a 6km to 7km military style mud run obstacle assault course! But don’t let the theme and army cams scare you, the event is suitable for every level of fitness from first times to seasoned weekend warriors. The event is on two days on June 30 and July 1.

Kiddyhawk Mud Run

If your little tackers are keen for some muddy fun, why not create your own piece of history and register them for Operation KiddyHawk? A purpose built 2km mud run obstacle course for kids. Held on two days, June 30 and July 1.

Treasure Hunt

Experience the thrill of discovery these school holidays!

Start by creating your own treasure bag, then dig for treasure in the massive Treasure Hunt sand pit. What you discover is yours to keep….so fill your treasure bag with jewels, gems and special things.

Treasure Hunt is a playful experience for young children aged 3 – 8 years (and their families). It is the perfect way to learn about fossicking and geology while having fun.

For children under three years, there’s a toddler area with safe and stimulating activities.

NB Due to the choking hazard posed by ‘treasure’ items, children under 3 years must stay in the toddler area.

West End Juniors Car Wash Fundraiser

The West End Juniors are raising funds with a Car Wash. Get your car washed by a player or committee member.

Wind Tubes

Design and build your very own flying creation to test in the Wind Tubes. See your creation take flight and soar to the ceiling and defy gravity by hovering high overhead… or just fall to the floor. It’s all about air and invention, with a little bit of mid-air mayhem.

Wind Tubes is a hands-on exhibition that challenges you to make a flying creation out of everyday materials and launch it into large, clear vertical tubes of moving air.

Plastic, paper cups, polystyrene, ping pong balls, propellers and more … all the materials you need are provided. But can your design overcome turbulence, drag, air resistance and gravity?

Wind Tubes is a fun, interactive exhibition for the whole family. There’s a special space for children under two to enjoy.

Peak Organics is a small organic farm situated in rural Queensland. Currently they sell direct to the public from their farm gate.

See the diversity and skill of local Ipswich artists in this display featuring works that have been acquired for the Ipswich Art Gallery Collection.

Artists featured are Gary Abkin, Tim Acutt, Chenaya Bancroft-Davis, Annie Clarke, Donna Davis, Charmaine Davis, Mieke den Otter, Colleen Gardener, Angela Geertsma, Sally Harrison, Lizzett Kim, Wayne McDonnell, Sharon McKenzie, Deb Mostert, Kate Roberts, Andrew Spark and Helen Vere. Many of the pieces displayed have been acquired through the Ipswich Art Awards over the past 15 years and are shown in conjunction with this year’s Ipswich Festival.
