Look up this week to see a Super Hornet reaching speeds of 1000km/h

Ipswich residents will have the opportunity to watch an F/A-18F Super Hornet from Number 1 Squadron at RAAF Base Amberley, conduct Edinburgh Air Show display practise between Monday, 28 October and Tuesday, 5 November.

The practise will occur in the airspace over the base and surrounding areas.

Residents can expect to see a variety of manoeuvres with aircraft reaching speeds of 1000km/h and flying no lower than 60 meters.

The Royal Australian Air Force has thanked the Ipswich community for its ongoing support.


Times and dates the F/A18F Super Hornet will be practicing various air show manouvers:        

Monday, 28 October – 2.10pm

Tuesday, 29 October – 2.10pm

Wednesday, 30 October – 2.10pm

Thursday, 31 October – 2pm

Friday, 1 November – 10.35am

Monday, 4 November – 2.10pm 

Tuesday, 5 November – 4.10pm

The Edinburgh Air Show will be held at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia on 9 and 10 November.

The public will have a rare opportunity to see some of the Australian Defence Force’s most advanced military aircraft including the latest fifth generation fighter aircraft, the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter, and Defence technologies in addition to historic and vintage aircraft.
