Major investments to enhance sport, heritage and infrastructure across Division 4

Ipswich City Council’s 2026-2027 Budget delivers major investments in sport and recreation, flood mitigation and heritage.

Division 4 Councillor David Martin said the budget supports the division’s emerging communities as well as its established core.

“The headline investment for Division 4 is $35 million over two years to complete the council, State and Federally funded North Ipswich Sport and Entertainment Precinct Western Grandstand project, but this budget also delivers much more for communities across the area,” Cr Martin said.

“Upgrades to the tune of $11.5 million over three years for new fields, a clubhouse and field lighting at Tivoli Sporting Complex, funded in part through the SEQ Liveability Fund 2024-2027, will ensure grassroots sport continues to thrive with modern, fit-for-purpose infrastructure.

“Design work for a future upgrade of Rosewood Aquatic Centre will also progress with $150,000 allocated this important project.”

Division 4 Councillor Jim Madden said significant investment will be made in environmental and heritage assets, and a key footpath upgrade will be delivered.

“We’re investing $2 million over three years for improvements at Kholo Gardens at Muirlea including protecting historic brick water wells and spending $120,000 on refurbishments to Tallegalla House at Tallegalla,” Cr Madden said.

“Flood mitigation will be improved through a $3 million upgrade over two years to the Marburg Detention Basin and local families will benefit as we fix a missing link in the footpath on Haigslea Amberley Road near Walloon State School.

“These projects will strengthen community connections, support active lifestyles and enhance the unique character of Division 4.”
