New procurement data released on Transparency and Integrity Hub

Ipswich City Council’s Transparency and Integrity Hub now contains procurement data for all contracts over $10,000.

The increased amount of data available to the community comes after council adopted a revised Procurement Policy in July.

As part of its Buy Ipswich approach, council will also monitor and report on contracts awarded to local suppliers through open data available on the Transparency and Integrity Hub.

Mayor Teresa Harding said that this release will provide greater transparency on council expenditure for local businesses and the wider Ipswich community.

“Opening our books to the public on procurement at this level aligns with both Queensland and Commonwealth Government policies,” Mayor Harding said.

“This is another step in our open government journey and positions Ipswich as a leader in financial transparency in local government.

“This also helps businesses identify opportunities to supply goods and services to Council which will further support our economic recovery.”

Council is also now publishing the names of all suppliers who tender for contracts of $200,000 (excluding GST) and above, in addition to details of the awarded supplier, including its value and the purpose of contractual arrangements as required under the Local Government Regulation 2012.

Mayor Harding launched the Transparency and Integrity Hub on 1 July, giving ratepayers unprecedented access to the city’s finances.

Data available at the hub’s launch included financial records for council as well as council-controlled entities, councillor expenses and procurement data for contracts over $200,000 (excluding GST).

You can share your feedback on what datasets you would like to see on the hub by sending a message through the site’s feedback section.
