The distinctive rounded roof line of the new Ipswich Library being built as part of the Nicholas St redevelopment is beginning to emerge.
In recent weeks crews have been working to install the steel frame of the new library with much of the roofing steel now in place.
A large planter box which will be located at the front of the library is also being installed.

There are currently about 120 workers spread across the various aspects of the redevelopment.
In the past week, crews have also continued initial works on the zero depth water play area which will be a feature of the new Civic Plaza.
Water pipework has been installed and waterproofing works have continued.

On the administration building part of the project, the concrete columns that will feature between ground level and level one have been installed.
They make for an impressive site.
The ground floor of the administration building will form the customer service and community entry while level one will be large public function spaces.

The Nicholas St precinct last weekend hosted its first significant event since the reinstated Nicholas Street roadway, which is not yet open to traffic, was completed.
Meanwhile, thousands of people turned out for the Future Flavour Food Fair which included food trucks, market stalls and children’s activities.
Several Nicholas St traders also opened their shops for the event.
