Nicholas St update: New general library build reaches practical completion

Practical completion has been reached on the new general library in the Nicholas St precinct in Ipswich Central.

Ipswich City Council’s libraries team is now working to prepare the building to be opened before the end of the year.

For crews working on the new administration building, recent work has focused on continuation of structural steel on the roof and installation of curtain walls on levels four, five and six.

Amenities fit out on level one and two is ongoing as well as installation of façade stone on the north side of the ground floor.

The first coat of paint has been applied on the ground floor.

In the new civic plaza and car park, paving and the installation of planter boxes has been completed.

Two lifts have been finished, while testing and commissioning of the water feature continues.

There are about 150 workers currently on site across the library, civic plaza and new council administration building.
