Preview screening of new Aussie film to help bushfire victims

An advance preview screening on Sunday, 12 January of new Australian film Go! at Limelight Cinemas at Riverlink will be extra special because it will help bushfire victims.

Limelight Cinemas has pledged to donate 100 per cent of proceeds from the screening to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.

Tickets to the 4.30pm screening are $20 and include a mini popcorn and postmix drink combo.

Limelight Cinemas general manager Alexis Poulsen said it was about giving back.

“It’s a small gesture in the scheme of things, but we hope that it makes a difference to those affected by the bushfires,” she said.

“Both the Ipswich and Tuggeranong (in Canberra) cinemas are hosting the fundraiser screening this Sunday.

“Australia needs our help, and as an independent cinema, we’re passionate about giving back to the community where we can.

“A number of our team at our cinema in Tuggeranong have been adversely affected by the bushfires, and especially at a time of need, we’re 100 per cent behind them.”

Go!, directed by Owen Trevor and shot on location in southwest Western Australia, is a family-friendly, teen-focused story set in the world of go kart racing.

It follows 14-year-old Jack (William Lodder) who after moving to a small town in Western Australia with his single mother (Frances O’Connor) gets involved in competitive go kart racing.

Jack’s natural talent is noticed by go kart track owner Patrick (Richard Roxburgh) but before he can succeed in the sport Jack must learn to control his recklessness.
