Storm and flood safety is child’s play

The season for wild weather has arrived. Ipswich primary school students know it, and they want you help you to prepare. That’s why they’ve put together handy posters to give everyone a helping hand.
Get your emergency kit ready now

Everything you need to know is right here in the Summer Storm and Flood Safety competition.

You need an emergency kit at home because you might hurt yourself and you don’t want it to get worse.

Who are the SES?

Prep-Year 3

“These are the people who help us in flood waters and storms and loads of other stuff so I would like to respect them as they don’t get paid.”

Year 4-6

“These great people have chosen to volunteer as a helper of the community which we as people admire.”

Take closer look at the winning posters from the Summer Storm and Flood Safety competition on Level 1 of Ipswich Central Library.

Don’t play in flooded waterways

“15cm of fast-flowing water could knock an adult off their feet.

Don’t swim in floodwaters – raw sewerage, dead animals, hazardous waste, sharp objects.”

My drawing is about how to never play in floodwaters. I drew a picture of the SES saving a person on the Warrego Highway.
