Ipswich City Council’s 2026-2027 Budget delivers strong investment across Division 1 with a focus on improving connectivity, supporting growing communities and enhancing liveability.
Division 1 Councillor Pye Augustine said major road upgrades and improvements to parks and sporting facilities together with community safety initiatives would benefit residents now and into the future.
“This budget delivers the infrastructure Division 1 communities, which are some of our city’s fastest growing areas, need,” Cr Augustine said.
“More than $108 million has been set aside over three years to deliver stages one and two of the Ripley Road upgrade, funded in part through Economic Development Queensland Catalyst Funding as well as the State Government’s Residential Activation Funding.
“There is also $19.7 million over three years to transform Fischer Road into a two-lane urban road between Nevis Road and Monterea Road, funded through Residential Activation Funding.
“These critical road upgrades will reduce congestion, improve safety and make it easier for residents to move around in our city.”
Division 1 Councillor Jacob Madsen said community recreation and sporting facilities will also receive a major boost.
“We’re spending $8.7 million for new sports fields, back netting and parking at Redbank Plains Recreation Reserve, funded via the SEQ Liveability Fund 2024-2027,” Cr Madsen said.
“More than $915,000 will be spent to rehabilitate local parks, including new playgrounds at Paddington Reserve and Norm Craswell Park.
“We want vibrant and active neighbourhoods where families can enjoy modern, safe sport and recreation spaces and these projects will go a long way to delivering that.”
Money is also being spent on safety and accessibility improvements in Division 1 with $278,000 for projects to improve pedestrian safety near Fernbrooke State School and Redbank Plains State School.
