Three tourism giants join forces

Pterodactyl Helicopters, The Soul Nook Collective and Woodlands of Marburg have joined forces to offer gourmet picnics packages at the 130-year-old mansion arriving by private air travel.

All of these tourism businesses are amazing destinations in their own right, but combined have created an extraordinary experience.

Pterodactyl Helicopters Captain Mike Jarvis said his company’s philosophy is to identify the best places on the ground and then work with those local companies to provide the best experience Ipswich has to offer.

“We are all about collaboration,” he said.

“We have a pretty cool way to get places.

“When you book a package with us, it is all inclusive, you don’t have to put your hand in your pocket again for anything. It is all taken care of.”

Woodlands of Marburg operator David Ritchie has modelled his business on collaboration also.

“We work with various local companies to develop our own Tommy Smith Café blend of coffee, tea, wine and beer. We source our soft drinks and food from small businesses,” Mr Ritchie said.

When you fly in for a gourmet picnic package, a tour of one of Marburg’s oldest and most treasured properties is included.

“We have 130 years’ worth of history to share with visitors,” he said.

“I think the gourmet picnic packages are a unique experience filled with history and heritage combined with something more modern.

“Arriving in a helicopter and having a beautiful picnic in a private tent on dusk with a view of the sunset over our hill, is a really unique experience.”

The Soul Nook Collective’s Taryn Ryan said together, they offer an afternoon for people looking for something different.

“I met Captain Mike from Pterodactyl through a colleague of mine and from there we had this idea,” Ms Ryan said.

“We thought it would be out of this world to fly to a gourmet picnic at a beautiful location such as Woodlands.

“It’s all laid out when they touch down in the helicopter.

“The visitors don’t have to do anything, just show up. All our food is locally catered.

“We work in a niche market so when we combine so many forces together to create this experience, it has taken off.

“I think it is something the area has needed.”
