Eight local organisations will share in more than $68,000 of financial support from Round 1 of council’s 2022-2023 Community Projects Funding Program for projects that will benefit the Ipswich community.
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said a variety of high-calibre projects had been submitted to the selection panel for funding consideration.
“Council’s Community Projects Funding Program offers up to $15,000 in support to community groups and organisations for one-off projects and initiatives that will benefit our community and city,” Cr Fechner said.
“During Round 1 of this year’s program, council received many worthwhile and diverse project proposals from dedicated local groups and organisations who work to make positive change in our city and help keep our community connected.
“Successful applicants included service clubs and organisations which will receive support for initiatives that help children, young adults, and homeless and vulnerable community members.
“Local sporting clubs also received assistance for projects to improve facilities or upgrade equipment that will encourage and improve participation in club activities.”
Community Projects Funding Program Round 1 recipients
- City of Ipswich Pony Club Inc received $15,000 for their Safe Arena Fencing Project.
- Redbank Plains Bears Rugby League Football Club received $9,543 for an Outdoor PA System.
- Limestone District Scouts received $10,760 to source equipment for several scout groups.
- Rotary Club of Goodna Inc received $2,880 for their ‘It’s In A Bag’ project.
- Y-Care (South East Queensland) Inc received $1,786 for their Crafty Kids School Holiday Program at the YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre.
- ICYS Ipswich Community Youth Service Inc received $15,000 to improve their Youth Hub.
- Rosewood Bowls Club received $13,247 to help upgrade their kitchen facilities.

Councillor Fechner said council’s Community Projects Funding Program was a great opportunity for clubs and groups to update equipment or start a project.
“If you are part of a community or sporting group, a grant from this program could help kickstart a long-delayed project or update important club infrastructure or services,” Cr Fechner said.

Applications for funding of up to $15,000 for one-off projects and activities can be made in three funding rounds per financial year.
Round 2 of the Community Projects Funding Program is now open and closes 30 November 2022.
