Grandchester Express
Get on-board this return steam train journey to historic Grandchester station. Add Museum entry and make a whole day out.
During this two and a half hour return trip, passengers have the option to disembark at Grandchester station and explore the grounds, watch the locomotive be uncoupled from its train and ran around for its return trip.
Bookings are essential and passengers are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.

Giant 3PLUS3 – A Mountain Bikers Christmas in July
It’s Christmas in July on Mountain Bikes. Two courses both operating over the two days – One for the Competitors (Racers) and the other for the Completer’s (Social). Next day they are switched offering new challenges and extra fun factor!
Podium prizes/medals for those on the racing course and spot prizes handed out through-out the day for those riding the social course – enjoying a safe and friendly track environment – perfect for beginners and those in it for fun! Both courses will be timed with pit-lane and the timing-line being a common area. The courses, including the kids, change on Sunday for a new challenge. All four courses will be made up of fun single track with minimal climbing making them suitable for all skill levels.

Treasure Hunt
Experience the thrill of discovery these school holidays!
Start by creating your own treasure bag, then dig for treasure in the massive Treasure Hunt sand pit. What you discover is yours to keep….so fill your treasure bag with jewels, gems and special things.
Treasure Hunt is a playful experience for young children aged 3 – 8 years (and their families). It is the perfect way to learn about fossicking and geology while having fun.
For children under three years, there’s a toddler area with safe and stimulating activities.
NB Due to the choking hazard posed by ‘treasure’ items, children under 3 years must stay in the toddler area.

parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. All ages and abilities can go along and run the 5km course. Please register before your first run. Bring a printed copy of your barcode so you can get your time. You are also welcome to grab a coffee in a local cafe with the parkrunners afterwards.

Shapeshifters: 3D Printing the Future
Showcasing works by seven Australian and one international maker, this exhibition explores how 3D printing has revolutionised the way we design and apply products in our everyday lives. Artist creations on display include jewellery, fashion and prosthetics, all created using 3D printing technology. A series of workshops will accompany the exhibition including hands-on opportunities for adults and children to design and print their own 3D objects.

FOREIGN BODIES: NEW WORK BY CHRISTOPHER TROTTER
These new sculptures by Christopher Trotter are created from natural objects and discarded machinery. Drawn to the unique forms and weathered surfaces of these materials, Trotter’s creations appear to have lived a hard life performing the task for which they were invented. Since each creation is made by joining unrelated materials in an illogical yet seemingly plausible combination, we are left to ponder exactly what function they performed.

This selection of ‘house portraits’ examines the city’s significant domestic architectural heritage as seen through the eyes of contemporary Queensland artists.
These house portraits are more than mere pictorial representations of the city’s heritage-listed buildings, instead offering explorations into the architectural design, construction and fabrication methods while also exposing more than a hint of the personal histories and memories of their former residents.

Wind Tubes is a hands-on exhibition that challenges you to make a flying creation out of everyday materials and launch it into large, clear vertical tubes of moving air.
Plastic, paper cups, polystyrene, ping pong balls, propellers and more … all the materials you need are provided. But can your design overcome turbulence, drag, air resistance and gravity?
Wind Tubes is a fun, interactive exhibition for the whole family. There’s a special space for children under two to enjoy.
