Multi-million dollar refurbishment for iconic Ipswich shopping centre

St Ives Shopping Centre will undergo a multi-million dollar refurbishment as Goodna continues to develop as an important economic hub.

Sydney-based Mintus bought the centre last year and has since worked up plans to give it a fresh look.

Onsite work started this week, with the centre to get a complete re-work including a new facade, improved LED lighting, resurfaced car park and new toilets/amenities.

A new thoroughfare linking the front and rear car park and the introduction of new retailers for locals and visitors to enjoy is also included.

“We’re proud to bring a revitalised, fresh new look to our centre,” director retail and residential for Mintus, Ben Stewart, said.

“When we added St Ives Shopping Centre to our retail portfolio, we saw it as an opportunity to create something special in an area that will greatly appreciate a more convenient, accessible and modern centre.”

Three new tenants have leased large shops in the centre, being Anytime Fitness, Discounter Welcome Gifts and Goodna Family Medical Centre.

They join long-standing tenants including Woolworths, ST Ives Fruit Market, Australia Post, Discount Drug Store, Red Rooster and a newly relocated BWS.

The completed St Ives Shopping Centre will have more than 500 car parks and multiple entry and exit points with new signage which will make it safe and easy for customers to come and go.

“We believe the area’s amenity and transport (rail and road), together with a refurbished centre will significantly benefit the local community and be a catalyst for further growth,” Mr Stewart said.Goodna is intended to develop as a Major Regional Activity Centre for South East Queensland.
