Just in time for the school holidays Ivory’s Rock has opened a new campground, believed to be the first in 20 years in Queensland.
From June 27, up to 200 sites will be available for people to stay and from then on guests will be welcome Thursday to Sundays year round.
The 600 hectare property backs onto Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate including Flinders Peak and the Ipswich-Boonah Trail.
From July, for the first time walking trails around Ivory’s Rock itself will also be open to the public, with guided tours allowing guests to explore the private property and take in spectacular views.
Ivory’s Rock chairperson, Joy Winnel, is happy to be hosting campers.
“We are pleased to be offering a beautiful place for people to put up their tent or park their caravan and get out in nature again. We believe we are the newest private campground to open in Queensland in 20 years,” Ms Winnel said.
“With wallabies hopping about and koalas to spot, our campgrounds are surrounded by native bushland, yet campers can still enjoy creature comforts such as powered sites, laundry facilities, WiFi and even a number of private bathrooms.”
Along with camping and caravan sites Ivory’s Rock will also be offering air-conditioned twin bunkhouses, and has plans for a rent-a-tent service once Covid restrictions are further eased.
Located just off the main road between Ipswich and Boonah, the campground makes an ideal base for drives around the Ipswich and Scenic Rim regions.
Ivory’s Rock Conventions and Events is known for being a unique venue for large events such as Earth Frequency Festival and international peace events, smaller group activities and retreats.
