Taking a running jump for Legacy

Even for skydivers, having the chance to run out of the back of a military plane is rare.

Two hundred and seventy civilian skydivers and five Legacy youths took part in the jump which raised $38,000 for Legacy Ipswich.

For the Air Force crew of the C-17A Globemaster, the runs were routine.

Three missions were flown throughout the day on Saturday from RAAF Base Amberley. Participants donated to Legacy for the opportunity to participate in the event.

The skydivers landed at the Toogoolawah Drop Zone.

Taylah Green is a Legatee who took part in a tandem jump.

“My father SQNLDR Brett Green last year passed away and Legacy took my family and me onboard,” she said.

“Legacy has built our family back up and they have given us a support beam. It’s really good to be able to talk to other people who know what it’s like to lose a parent.”
