The dust may have just settled at Willowbank after the hugely successful CMC Rocks QLD country music festival, but the economic benefits will continue to reverberate throughout Ipswich for some time.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said CMC Rocks QLD is one of Ipswich’s major events for the year and is a huge boost to the region and injects millions of dollars into Ipswich’s economy.
“CMC Rocks QLD was incredible over three days from Friday to Sunday and we are thrilled to be welcoming the event back to Ipswich in 2023 to its regular timeslot in March,” Mayor Harding said.
“Council is a major sponsor of the event which we know has previously injected more than $11 million into the Ipswich economy.
“Having the festival here in Ipswich since 2015 has seen the reputation of the event solidified, and we look forward to welcoming CMC Rock QLD and country music fans back to Ipswich until at least 2025.”
Economic and Industry Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Nicole Jonic said CMC Rocks also brings national exposure to the Ipswich region.
“This is the southern hemisphere’s largest international country music festival, and it generates more than 61,000 visitor nights in Ipswich attracting about 19,000 visitors to Ipswich,” Cr Jonic said.
“We would like to extend the welcome mat for those visiting CMC Rocks QLD to once again extend their stay in Ipswich, support our local tourism operators, hospitality industry and spend some time in the beautiful Ipswich region.”
Chugg Entertainment Chairman Michael Chugg said they have waited a long time to put on this year’s show, and knew it was going to be spectacular.
“Everyone involved, from the artists, staff, crew, vendors and especially our CMC Rocks fans, absolutely outdid themselves,” Mr Chugg said.
“It has been a wonderful homecoming to Willowbank, and you better believe we are going to do it all again in just six months’ time over the weekend of Friday 17 to Sunday 19 March 2023.”
CMC Rocks QLD will be on March 15 to 19 2023 with the full artist line-up to be announced Tuesday 11 October.
