Contrary to the belief that librarians will shush you for talking, Ipswich Libraries is encouraging community members to speak up.
Community, Culture Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said Ipswich Libraries is undertaking its annual survey to evaluate community sentiment regarding local library services.
“Ipswich Libraries currently has 556,570 resources available to borrow, 22,500 of which are typically borrowed in a week,” Cr Fechner said.
“Ipswich Libraries adopts a dynamic, innovative approach in providing a wide range of resources, from an extensive collection to advanced digital services and experiences.
“Libraries also offer public PCs, free WiFi, bookable meeting rooms and study nooks, as well as range of free programs and events.
“A modern library is more akin to a community hub where everyone is welcome, and where there is something for everyone.
“Ipswich Libraries undertakes this annual survey to find out which services people value the most, and where we can improve.
“Ipswich residents are invited to share their opinion whether they are a library member or not.
“Ipswich is a rapidly growing city and council wants to ensure it is meeting the needs of our expanding population.”
There are currently eight service points across Ipswich including Australia’s only standalone, specially designed public Children’s Library in Ipswich Central.
