Three tips for festive health and happiness: Doggy style

2017 left you feeling a bit ruff? Help man’s best friend finish the year in fur-tastic style
1. Treat yo’ self

So many human Christmas delicacies are dangerous for dogs, such as chocolate, nutmeg, avodaco, macadamia nuts and more.

But if you’re finding it hard to say no to those puppy dog eyes under the table, try whipping up some simple frozen dog treats perfect for hot summer days.

Degrees celsius - that's how hot a light-coloured car can become in just 12 minutes, according to a test done by RSPCA QLD
2. Get in shape

We all want to exercise more and live healthier lives – and our dogs are no exception.

Ipswich has 15 dog off-leash parks where pooches are free to run and play, including a new one at Yamanto with a design to separate small and large dogs.

Don’t wait for a New Year’s resolution – get out there now! Here’s a handy map to find your closest off leash area.

3. Save money

Dog registration is awesome – not only can you be quickly reunited with your furbaby, but the Registration Rewards booklet could save you thousands at this time of year.

Going on holiday? There are discounts for kennels or pet minding. Wanting to splash out? Why not book a discounted hydrobath and groom, or personal dog training session.

The rest of the family haven’t been forgotten, with discounts including Just Jump, Limelight Cinemas and a number of Ipswich cafes. Read the full list here.
